Global Imams Council Condemns Bondi Beach Terror Attack

The Global Imams Council has condemned in strong terms the terrorist attack on the Jewish community at Bondi Beach, Sydney, which occurred during Hanukkah celebrations, describing it as a calculated act of antisemitic violence against innocent civilians.
Speaking in an official statement, the Chairman of the Global Imams Council said the attack targeted Jewish families who were peacefully observing the Festival of Lights, noting that he had personally reached out to the victims’ families to express solidarity. “This was not merely an act of violence. It was a calculated antisemitic act of terror driven by hatred, cowardice and moral depravity,” he said.
He described the killing of worshippers, including children and respected community leaders, as an unforgivable crime, stressing that the perpetrators were enemies of all faiths and civilised society. “The murder of worshippers, including children and respected community figures and leaders, is an unforgivable crime that stains the conscience of humanity,” the Chairman stated.
The Council warned that the Bondi Beach attack reflects the danger of normalising hatred and extremist rhetoric. “What begins as chants and threats inevitably ends in blood,” he said, adding that any ideology that targets Jews or justifies violence against them “is not representing Islam but desecrating it.”
Expressing what he described as unbreakable solidarity with Jewish communities in Australia and worldwide, the Chairman said Muslims across the globe share in their grief. “Your grief is our grief. Your pain is shared deeply by Muslims across the globe who refuse to remain silent in the face of evil,” he said.
He called on governments and religious leaders to confront antisemitism decisively and urged Australian authorities to pursue not only the perpetrators but also those who incite or enable terrorism. “Silence is complicity, and being neutral in the face of terror is a moral failure,” he added.
