“Yesterday, we gathered at Eastwood Manor for ‘100 Years of Black Excellence: Standing in Legacy and Longevity,’ a powerful celebration of the history, resilience, and contributions of Black leaders across generations,” Gibson said.
She noted that the evening was filled with reflection, recognition and unity, as the community honoured both past trailblazers and present-day changemakers. “It was an inspiring evening filled with reflection, recognition, and community as we honored the trailblazers who paved the way and the changemakers continuing that legacy today,” she added.
Gibson extended special congratulations to the honourees and expressed appreciation to sponsors, the keynote speaker, Jumaane D. Williams, and Master of Ceremonies James Ford of PIX11, as well as government colleagues and residents who attended.
She said the celebration underscored the enduring strength and cultural significance of the Bronx’s Black community over the past 100 years.
