Hochul raises record $7.3 million in first half of 2024
New York Governor Kathy Hochul has raised over $7.3 million in the first half of 2024, her campaign announced on Tuesday morning. This amount marks a record-breaking figure for any governor at this stage in the election cycle.
Of the funds raised, $5.8 million is allocated to Friends for Kathy Hochul for her re-election campaign, with more than $1.4 million directed towards the state Democratic Party. Hochul’s campaign currently holds over $13.5 million in cash on hand and has amassed over $22 million for her re-election efforts and the state party since January 2023. The governor recently confirmed her intention to seek another four-year term in 2026.
“Governor Hochul is working tirelessly to address the top concerns of New Yorkers, from taking action on affordability and public safety to passing nation-leading legislation like prenatal paid leave and restrictions on social media,” stated Hochul spokesperson Jen Goodman. “As leader of the New York State Democratic Party, Governor Hochul is making unprecedented investments in the Party with a focus on flipping the House in 2024 and building an operation that will support Democrats for years to come.”
The significant fundraising total highlights the broad support for Governor Hochul’s initiatives and leadership. Her focus on pivotal issues such as affordability, public safety, and social legislation resonates with a wide base of New Yorkers committed to her vision.
Goodman emphasized the importance of this financial support in advancing Hochul’s goals and electing Democrats across various levels of government. “This latest fundraising haul underscores the Governor’s widespread support from New Yorkers who are committed to advancing Governor Hochul’s vision and electing Democrats up and down the ballot in 2024 and beyond,” she added.
Governor Hochul’s financial strategy and commitment to bolstering the Democratic Party indicate a robust campaign infrastructure as she prepares for the 2026 election cycle, aiming to solidify her position and continue her policy agenda.
