Global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has canceled his much-anticipated visit to Baghdad due to a viral infection. Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr, was set to headline a major AFC Champions League Elite event, where his team was scheduled to compete against Iraq’s Al-Shorta at the Al-Madinah International Stadium.

Despite Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, having already secured entry visas for Iraq, the star player’s doctors in Saudi Arabia recommended he rest, leading to the decision to cancel his trip.

This news has been a blow to the many Iraqi football fans who were eagerly awaiting Ronaldo’s rare visit. His presence in Baghdad was expected to be a landmark moment for Iraqi football, adding international prestige to the local sporting scene.

Although Ronaldo will not be attending, the match between Al-Nassr and Al-Shorta will still go ahead as planned.
