Three Israelis attack, shot at West Bank-Jordan Border
In a shocking escalation at the Allenby Bridge crossing between Jordan and the West Bank, three Israeli men were shot dead by a gunman identified as Jordanian citizen Maher Diab Hussein Al-Jazi.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Al-Jazi drove a truck from Jordan to the Israeli-controlled area, exited the vehicle, and opened fire. Security personnel quickly “eliminated” the gunman, who was acting alone, and proceeded to check the truck for explosives.
The crossing, a critical point for the transport of goods between Jordan and the occupied West Bank, has now been closed. It primarily serves Palestinians and foreigners, as Israelis are barred from using it. The attack occurred during routine offloading operations in the area.
Jordanian authorities have confirmed Al-Jazi’s identity and launched an investigation into the incident. Al-Jazi, from Al-Hussainiya in Maan governorate, drove the vehicle as part of a commercial goods transfer. In a statement, the Jordanian Ministry of Interior said, “Various authorities are now coordinating the repatriation of Al-Jazi’s body for burial in Jordan.”
The incident has sparked renewed tensions between the two nations, with both Israeli and Jordanian officials working to understand the gunman’s motives.
