Iran issues stark warning to Israel, following hypersonic missile strike

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, delivered a sharp warning to Israel and its allies on Wednesday, asserting that Iran follows through on its promises with decisive action. Referring to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, Kanaani emphasized Iran’s right to self-defense following its hypersonic missile strike on Israeli military targets the night before.
“Based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, we acted decisively and firmly against the delusional and obstinate aggressors, the right to legitimate defense, and the protection of Iran’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity,” Kanaani wrote on X.
His comments came in the wake of a high-profile retaliation from Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), which launched a barrage of hypersonic ballistic missiles targeting Israeli military installations in the occupied Palestinian territories. The attack was a direct response to the assassination of three key figures—Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoushan.
Kanaani underscored the strength and determination of Iran’s armed forces, stating, “The ability, bravery, power, and defensive authority of the Iranian armed forces, and at the head of them, the wisdom and strength of the Supreme Leader, are a source of pride for all Iranians.”

Warning Israel, he added, “We adhere to the stability and security of the region and will act harshly against the aggressors.” Kanaani’s statement left no room for doubt regarding Iran’s resolve: “The Zionist regime and its supporters should know that the Islamic Republic of Iran acts decisively on what it says.”
This declaration follows a series of escalations in the region, with Iran making clear its ability to respond swiftly and forcefully. Kanaani’s statement further reinforced Tehran’s stance, stating, “Once again, it was proved that Iran’s hands can reach any point it wants.”
The incident underscores the increasingly volatile situation in the Middle East, as both sides engage in retaliatory actions that threaten to further destabilize the region. Kanaani concluded his remarks with a pointed message: “The future of the region and West Asia will be drawn by its owners and its authentic and rooted nations, not the rootless aggressors.”
