World leaders have reacted swiftly and decisively, revealing a spectrum of expectations, hopes, and concerns for the future of international relations under another Trump administration as Donald Trump asserted his claim on the U.S. presidency election for a second time.
Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, currently entangled in an escalating conflict with Hamas, embraced Trump’s comeback as “history’s greatest,” celebrating what he called “a huge victory!” Netanyahu framed Trump’s return as a renewed chapter for the U.S.-Israel alliance. Meanwhile, Israeli President Isaac Herzog extended his own congratulatory message, describing Trump as a “champion of peace” and expressing eagerness to collaborate for a “future of peace and security” in the Middle East.
Hungary
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a long-time Trump ally, hailed the election result as “a much-needed victory for the World!” Known for his close association with the former president, Orbán also referenced his own influence on Trump’s political playbook, saying, “I entered the policy-writing system of President Donald Trump’s team.”

Russia
From Russia’s State Duma, Leonid Slutsky, head of the International Affairs Committee, suggested Trump’s victory might offer “a chance for a more constructive approach to the Ukrainian conflict.” He alluded to Trump’s election promises of cutting U.S. financial support for Ukraine, which Slutsky implied could lead to a resolution favorable to Moscow.
United Kingdom
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer extended a formal congratulations, calling the election result “historic” and pledging to uphold the U.S.-UK “special relationship” despite ideological contrasts with Trump’s policies.
France and the European Union
French President Emmanuel Macron, while congratulatory, quickly followed up with a message to the EU about strengthening European unity in response. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, echoed this sentiment, stressing the need for a robust “transatlantic agenda.”
Nigeria
Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu, in a statement from his office, voiced optimism for a stronger Nigeria-U.S. partnership, expressing hopes to “foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges.”
As Trump sets the stage for his potential return, world leaders are now navigating how another term of his administration might reshape international dynamics and alliances.
