The Houthi group has reported that United States forces launched 15 airstrikes on Monday targeting areas in central Yemen’s Marib Governorate, according to the group’s Al-Masirah TV channel. The airstrikes hit the Raghwan and Medghal districts, both located in a contested region that is partly controlled by the Houthis and partly by Yemen’s internationally recognized government.

Al-Masirah did not release any information regarding casualties or damage from the latest strikes, and the US government has not issued any statement confirming or denying the operation.

Marib, a strategic and oil-rich province, has remained a flashpoint in Yemen’s ongoing conflict. According to casualty figures cited by Anadolu and based on Houthi reports, at least 123 civilians, mostly women and children, have been killed and 247 injured in US airstrikes since March 15. These numbers do not include losses suffered by Houthi fighters.

President Donald Trump last month confirmed US military action in Yemen, declaring he had ordered “decisive and powerful military action” against the Houthis. He further escalated rhetoric by warning that the group would be “completely annihilated.”

Since November 2023, the Houthis have launched repeated attacks on commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden. They claim the attacks are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where Israel’s military campaign has reportedly killed more than 50,900 people.

The Houthi attacks had paused during a ceasefire declared in January between Israel and Hamas but resumed after Israel renewed its airstrikes on Gaza, breaking the truce.
