The United Arab Emirates is set to restore air travel links with Syria, signaling a further thaw in relations between the two nations. The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority announced Monday that preparations are underway to restart flights to the Syrian Arab Republic, more than a decade after diplomatic and transport ties were strained by the civil war.

“Joint coordination is currently underway to finalize the necessary procedures for the resumption of flights between the two countries, aiming to enhance air traffic and support the movement of passengers and cargo,” the Authority said in a press release, as reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The move is seen as part of broader efforts by the UAE to normalize ties with Damascus, following years of regional isolation imposed on Syria during its conflict. No official date has yet been set for the resumption, but authorities emphasized the intention to boost both passenger travel and trade through renewed air connectivity.
