Qatar champions collective action ahead of 2025 sustainability summit

Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to global development efforts during its participation in the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD) 2025, held in Beirut under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).

Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to global development efforts during its participation in the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD) 2025, held in Beirut under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). The forum forms part of regional preparations for advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Leading Qatar’s delegation was HE Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Speaking at a side event titled *”Pathways to the World Summit on Sustainable Development,”* she shared Qatar’s preparations for hosting the World Summit on Sustainable Development from November 4 to 6, 2025, and stressed the country’s dedication to delivering both an inclusive and impactful summit.

Her Excellency detailed the national and international steps taken to ensure meaningful outcomes, stating, “The State of Qatar views the World Summit on Sustainable Development as a vital platform for fostering global dialogue on social development issues.” She also underlined the importance of involving all stakeholders, including civil society and the private sector, in shaping sustainable futures.

“We aspire for the Summit to reflect global development priorities,” she said, adding that Qatar remains committed to delivering not only logistical excellence but also a platform for diverse and effective engagement. “True social development can only be achieved through the collective involvement of all sectors in shaping its future,” she emphasized.
