The United States and the United Kingdom have reiterated their “unwavering support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.”
This declaration came after the UK-US Strategic Dialogue, where US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy met in London to discuss key global issues.
The joint statement strongly condemned Russia’s recent airstrikes on Ukrainian civilians, signaling both nations’ commitment to intensifying military and financial support for Ukraine. The dialogue also underscored the need to ramp up pressure on the Kremlin, further isolating Russia on the world stage.
In a significant revelation, Blinken confirmed that “Russia has received ballistic missiles from Iran,” heightening concerns over Tehran’s deepening military involvement in the conflict. Both countries denounced this development and vowed to coordinate actions to counter this growing alliance.
The talks extended beyond Ukraine, addressing the escalating Gaza conflict. The US and UK reaffirmed their commitment to “Israel’s security” and backed ongoing mediation efforts for a ceasefire.
Additionally, the dialogue focused on broader global stability, including a shared goal of a “free and open Indo-Pacific,” while condemning China’s actions in the South China Sea. Both leaders emphasized that “peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait” is vital for global security.
As part of their broader agenda, the US and UK pledged to strengthen joint efforts in combating corruption, promoting economic growth, and collaborating on climate goals ahead of the COP29 summit set for November in Baku, Azerbaijan.
