Ivory Coast: UN condemns violence during presidential election
The United Nations Chief, António Guterres, has strongly condemned the violence that occurred prior to, during and after the Ivory Coast election.
While reacting to the violence recorded during election in a statement on Wednesday November 4, 2020, Guterres called on all political stakeholders “to respect the country’s constitutional order and adhere to the rule of law.”
He urged the President and the main opposition leaders to engage in meaningful and inclusive dialogue to chart a way forward out of the prevailing crisis.
“Both parties are advised to work together towards consensus and national cohesion,” Guterres said.
