NASA working to prepare launch of Artemis I rocket to moon
In Cape Canaveral, Florida, NASA is working to prepare for the launch of its Artemis I rocket to go to the moon.
While it may not be infinity and beyond, this rocket is going to be the first of many in an effort to create a consistent human presence on the moon.
The unmanned flight is propelled by the most powerful rocket created. Artemis I will fly farther than any other spacecraft made with human travel in mind.
Artemis 1, an uncrewed test flight, will feature the first blastoff of the massive Space Launch System rocket, which will be the most powerful in the world when it goes into operation. It will propel the Orion crew capsule into orbit around the Moon. The spacecraft will remain in space for 42 days before returning to Earth.
The launch is expected on Monday, August 29, 2022, anywhere from 8:33 am to 10:33 am and would be the furthest into space any vehicle intended for humans has ever traveled before.
