Sheikh Musa Drammeh pens tribute to mourn late New York businesswoman Urmilla Busgith
It’s been over a year since Urmilla Busgith, a Bronx-based realtor and business woman, passed away in April 2023 at the age of 54, but her memory continues to be celebrated by associates and community members.
Sheikh Musa Drammeh, a leading community organiser and founder of Muslim Media Corporation, on Friday, August 30, 2024, shared a new Facebook post celebrating her life and legacy.
Sheikh Drammeh recalled his first meeting with Mrs. Busgith, describing how she generously supported his startup media business with a significant advertisement investment, becoming their first client.
He praised her trust and belief in him, noting that it made a “huge difference” in his life and motivated him to be a better person and professional.
The tribute reads:
“This beautiful soul whom I didn’t know but apparently she knew of me. One day I was canvassing in the Morris Park neighborhood looking for advertisements for our newspapers.
“I got to her office and asked the receptionist if I could see the owner or the person in charge of the office. After going back and forth with her as to why it was important for me see her boss, she finally agreed to walk to her boss’s closed office door and asked her if she was interested in meeting me, a stranger.
“She said to let me in. I walked into her office not knowing her and had never met her before. I introduced myself to her and asked her if she would be interested in placing ads in our newspapers.
“After a lengthy presentation about who we were and the marketing benefits we could generate for her real estate company, she wrote a check with several thousand dollars on it for a year long print and digital ads. This was actually our very first ad buy.
“Her check was the first payment for our startup media business. She told me you don’t know me but I do know you and believe any promise you have made. I walked out of her office with reinforced commitment to be a better person and a reliable professional.
“Her trust in me had made a huge difference then and now. Needless to say but I didn’t disappoint her. I couldn’t.
“She passed away last year at the tender young age with huge potential for what she could’ve achieved. Her death was and still one of the most painful ones in my life. Thank you Urmila Busghit”
