Israel has introduced planned to implement a new entry requirement for tourists from visa-exempt countries, requiring travelers to complete an online application form known as ETA-IL. Following a trial phase, the rule will officially take effect on January 1, 2025. Â
The ETA-IL form must be submitted online prior to travel, with applicants receiving approval or denial within 72 hours. Once approved, the form remains valid until the expiration of the passport used for the application, eliminating the need for reapplication during its validity period. An application fee will also be required. Â
Similar to systems in the United States and the United Kingdom, the ETA-IL is designed to streamline entry processes while enhancing border security. Â

“Citizens from visa-exempt nations like the US, UK, Canada, and Australia will now need to meet this new requirement, even for short visits of up to three months,” Israeli officials noted. Â
The change highlights Israel’s alignment with global trends in border management, signaling a move toward more digitized and secure travel protocols.
