The NATO Parliamentary Assembly, meeting in Montreal, Canada, has adopted a resolution urging member states to supply Ukraine with intermediate-range missiles to bolster its defenses against Russian aggression.
Yehor Chernev, a Ukrainian MP attending as a guest, highlighted the significance of the proposed weapons, including Tomahawk missiles capable of striking targets up to 2,400 km away. “These missiles are not just weapons—they are a strategic deterrent.
Their deployment would send a strong message to Russia that Ukraine is prepared to defend itself and its sovereignty,” Chernev said. He also linked the missile discussion to a classified section of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s leaked “Victory Plan.”

The resolution calls for the timely delivery of modern weaponry and ammunition to Ukraine, with NATO emphasizing urgency. “Ukraine’s survival and security hinge on the swift fulfillment of our commitments,” one Assembly delegate noted during the session.
In addition, the resolution advocates for intensifying sanctions against Russia and its allies, including Iran and North Korea. “We must close every loophole and ensure that those who aid Russia’s war efforts are held accountable,” the document states.
The Assembly also expressed concerns about China’s indirect support for Russia. “Beijing must understand that aiding an aggressor comes with consequences,” a NATO parliamentarian declared, underscoring the importance of maintaining pressure on China.
Ukraine’s accession to NATO was another focal point, with the Assembly urging member states to expedite the process. “Ukraine has demonstrated its commitment to democratic values and shared security interests. It is time to bring them fully into the fold,” Chernev asserted.
The resolution reflects NATO’s growing resolve to equip Ukraine with strategic resources and diplomatic backing, reinforcing the Alliance’s commitment to countering Russian aggression.
