‘Do You See Me?’ Art Exhibition Shines Light on Stories of Hope and Resilience from Yemen to New York

The groundbreaking art exhibition, ‘Do You See Me?’, debuted at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum in New York City, showcasing the works and stories of 30 Yemeni children and youth who experienced the hardships of war during their childhood. This exhibition was curated by the Yemeni American artist Sahar Hasan Al-louthai, the founder of ‘ Qamaria for Arts’.

It featured a diverse range of artistic creations, presenting a collection of 60 remarkable artworks, along with photographs of the artists donning traditional costumes representing their various Yemeni provinces, including the famous Socotra island.

The opening ceremony was graced by notable figures, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Yemeni Ambassador Mohammed Al-Hadrami, Yemeni Consul Ali Abadi, renowned American artist Archie Rand, and other art and culture enthusiasts.

The exhibition sheds light on the stories of Yemeni children and youth, exploring their relationship with war and the arts. Each participant in the exhibition reflects their resilience, struggles, and hopes through their artistic works. Despite facing challenging circumstances, they demonstrate a steadfast commitment to using art as a means of self-expression and shedding light on their reality.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to amplify the voices of Yemeni youth and showcase their presence in the global community through their incredible art. It allows them to express their aspirations, dreams, and impact others through their powerful stories and influential artistry.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the artist and founder of Qamariya Arts Foundation, Sahar Hasan Al-louthai this magnificent exhibition has come to life.
