Khamenei vows “decisive response” as U.S, Israel tensions with Iran escalate

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a stern warning to the U.S. and Israel over recent military actions, cautioning of a “decisive response” amid rising tensions.
This statement, relayed by Iranian state television , comes as Israel intensifies strikes on Iranian military infrastructure in the region, further complicating the already volatile Middle East landscape.
Following recent events, including an Israeli airstrike on Iranian sites in Syria and the reported death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Khamenei’s remarks signaled Iran’s firm stance. “We will take all necessary steps to counter global arrogance, whether militarily, politically, or through arms. The Iranian people and leadership will never surrender to international tyranny and the criminal government ruling the world,” Khamenei declared, according to Mehr News Agency.

Escalations have seen Israel target significant Iranian defense assets, with Israeli airstrikes last month reportedly dismantling key Iranian air defenses and damaging missile development facilities. These strikes included Iran’s Parchin military base—known for its solid-fuel missile production—and the Revolutionary Guard’s Shahroud missile center. Israel also reportedly damaged Russian-supplied S-300 air defense systems, potentially reducing Iran’s defensive capabilities against further Israeli strikes.
As Tehran’s missile capabilities pose a notable threat to Israel, Western officials assert that if Iran’s air defenses remain compromised, Israel may gain a strategic advantage, possibly targeting energy infrastructure and, potentially, nuclear facilities.
The U.S. has responded by bolstering its military presence in the Middle East. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced that additional defensive measures, including ballistic missile defenses, B-52 bombers, and fighter jets, will be deployed to the region. “Any attack on U.S. forces or interests by Iran or its proxies will be met with immediate retaliation,” Austin warned. The move is seen as part of a broader U.S. strategy to defend Israel and deter Iran from further aggression.
As diplomatic channels struggle to ease tensions, the world watches closely, wary of a further escalation that could destabilize the region.
