Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson has applauded the New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) for awarding new grants to four not-for-profit organizations in the Bronx through the Community Grant Reinvestment Fund.

The initiative seeks to empower local groups that are driving progress in mental health, workforce development, and housing across the borough.

The organizations recognized include DreamYard Drama Project Inc., Neighborhood Association for Inter-Cultural Affairs, The Point CDC, and Community Connections for Youth Inc. Each will receive funding to expand programs that support Bronx youth and families.

Speaking, Gibson said, “We are proud to join the NYS Office of Cannabis Management to celebrate four not-for-profit organizations in the Bronx receiving funding to support our youth and families through the Community Grant Reinvestment Fund. Congratulations to our partners for their dedication to advancing mental health, workforce development, and housing initiatives in our borough.”

Under the New York State Cannabis Law (§ 99-ii), 40 percent of cannabis tax revenue is reinvested into communities most affected by past drug enforcement policies. The Cannabis Advisory Board (CAB) oversees the distribution of these grants to ensure that funding reaches historically underserved, under-resourced, and over-policed areas.

Gibson emphasized that the grants reflect a renewed commitment to equity and opportunity. “This initiative ensures that the communities most impacted by unjust drug laws are now receiving the resources and investments they deserve. Together, we are building a stronger, fairer Bronx,” she said.
