NRC Swears In Doug Weaver as Commissioner

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has conducted the ceremonial swearing-in of Commissioner Doug Weaver, officially welcoming him as the agency’s second newly appointed commissioner.
The ceremony was attended by Weaver’s family, friends, and current and former colleagues. NRC Chairman David Nieh administered the oath of office.
Weaver returns to the commission with over two decades of experience, having previously served in several roles at the NRC. In his remarks, he expressed enthusiasm about rejoining the agency at a time of significant change.
He described the NRC as having “a talented and dedicated workforce with a can-do attitude, a leadership team that is committed to excellence, and a burning platform for change like never before.”
Weaver said he was pleased to be part of what he called historic changes underway at the commission, as the agency continues efforts to strengthen its leadership, operations, and regulatory mission.
