Trump Urges Democratic Governors, Mayors to Cooperate on Immigration Enforcement

U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and Democratic governors and mayors across the United States to cooperate with his administration on the enforcement of immigration laws, accusing them of fueling division and public disorder by resisting federal efforts.
In a statement shared on his social media handle, Trump urged state and local authorities to work with federal agencies to arrest, detain, and deport what he described as “criminal illegal aliens,” while also calling on Congress to end sanctuary city policies nationwide.

Trump specifically demanded that governors and mayors hand over undocumented immigrants currently incarcerated in state prisons and local jails, as well as those with active warrants or known criminal histories, to federal authorities for immediate deportation.
He further insisted that local law enforcement agencies must cooperate fully with federal officers, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in apprehending undocumented immigrants wanted for crimes.
According to Trump, cooperation between federal and local authorities has led to safer communities in Republican-led states, while resistance in Democratic-led jurisdictions has resulted in unrest and loss of lives.
Calling on Congress to act, Trump said sanctuary city policies are at the root of immigration-related challenges and should be abolished, stressing that American cities should prioritize the safety of law-abiding citizens.
“That is why I am hereby calling on Governor Walz, Mayor Frey, and EVERY Democrat Governor and Mayor in the United States of America to formally cooperate with the Trump Administration to enforce our Nation’s Laws, rather than resist and stoke the flames of Division, Chaos, and Violence,” Trump said.
“Governor Walz and Mayor Frey should turn over all Criminal Illegal Aliens that are currently incarcerated in their State Prisons and Jails to Federal Authorities… for Immediate Deportation,” he added.
“State and Local Law Enforcement must agree to turn over all Illegal Aliens arrested by Local Police,” Trump stated.
“I am hereby calling on the United States Congress to immediately pass Legislation to END Sanctuary Cities, which is the root cause of all of these problems,” he said.
Trump also blamed the previous administration for what he described as a surge in undocumented immigration, claiming that millions of criminals entered the country during that period.
“During the four years of Crooked Joe Biden and Democrat failed leadership, Tens of Millions of Illegal Alien Criminals poured into our Country,” Trump alleged.
He claimed that cooperation between ICE and local police in Republican-led states such as Texas, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Louisiana has led to the arrest of over 150,000 undocumented immigrants with criminal records without protests or unrest.
“In Republican run Cities and States, these operations are going peacefully and smoothly, because Local Law Enforcement Officers are allowed to work with their Federal counterparts,” Trump said.
Trump concluded by accusing Democratic-led sanctuary cities of obstructing federal enforcement efforts and endangering public safety.
“By doing this, Democrats are putting Illegal Alien Criminals over Taxpaying, Law-Abiding Citizens, and they have created dangerous circumstances for everyone involved,” he said.
