Egypt Mufti condemns Israeli attacks on Muslim graves in Jerusalem
Egypt’s Mufti Shawki Allam has urged the international community and international organizations to assume their full responsibilities in stopping Israeli aggressions on Palestinian lands and sacred sites.
In a statement Friday, Allam also called on them to uphold the principles of international law, international legitimacy and human rights.
The Mufti strongly condemned “the latest attacks on the graves of the companions of the Prophet Mohammed as well as Arab and Muslim martyrs in Jerusalem.”
He warned of “the Israeli occupation’s ongoing plans to Judaize the occupied city of East Jerusalem,” describing Israeli acts as “a stark violation of the sanctity of the dead.”
He underscored that the excavation work carried out under the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and its surroundings in Jerusalem represents a serious threat to the mosque.
