The Mayor of New York City, Blasio Cuomo, has joined in the celebration of World Refugee Day.

While disclosing his participation in the national celebration on Saturday June 20, 2020, Cuomo commended the efforts of the refugees in the building of New York City.

“The people who built our city fled war, famine and persecution,” Cuomo said.

“On this #WorldRefugeeDay, we honor the strength of their stories and commit to never shutting our door to those in need,” he added.

The event, which is held on June 2020, every year, is aimed at honoring the courage and determination of those who have been forced to abandon their homes and flee persecution and conflict.

This year, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is asking people from all walks of life to join #WithRefugees.
