Juanita Holmes has emerged the Chief of Patrol for the New York Police Department.

This was announced by the New York Mayor, Bill de Blasio, via his Facebook page on Thursday October 28, 2020.

While expressing his delight, de Blasio stated that “We’re proud to announce Juanita Holmes as our next Chief of Patrol for the NYPD.”

He noted that Holmes “will break the glass ceiling as the first woman in American history to lead a police force as large as the NYPD.”

He stressed that Holmes is not just a historic choice, she’s the right choice.

The mayor also announced the appointment of Edward Delatorre as Chief of Labor Relations; Kim Royster as Chief of Transportation; Kathleen O’Reilly as Chief of Transit; Philip Rivera as Chief of Patrol Borough Manhattan North; and Olufunmilola Obe as Chief of School Safety Division.

“To build a fair, equal city, we need the right leadership within the NYPD. I thank Commissioner Shea for putting this bold new team together.

“These dedicated public servants don’t just love New York City, they reflect the diversity of the people who call it home,” de Blasio said.
