Khalid Latif, the Executive Director and Chaplain for the Islamic Center at New York University, has described the demonstration staged by the supporters of the US President Donald Trump as White terrorism.

While expressing his opinion via his Facebook page on Wednesday, Latif stated, “This is happening right now at the Capitol Building.”

He added, “Note that the media is calling them protestors, demonstrators, etc. but refusing to call this act of domestic white terrorism what it in fact is.

“I hope people who are watching realize this is not just the mindset of a few, but the essence of the iniquitous systems that inform the decisions of many more than some of like to admit.”

He stated all of it is rooted in issues of race and anti-blackness and supremacy.

“These same streets just weeks ago were filled with law enforcement in riot gear when Black Lives Matters activists rose up against injustice.

“Today trump supporters are shooting up and breaking into government buildings and the streets are empty of law enforcement,” Latif said.

“People thinking this makes sense that the Trump presidency would end this way should instead be thinking more about what is coming to the surface and getting a fresh beginning if it isn’t called out for what it is,” he concluded.
