Senator Christopher Coons leaves US to represent Biden in Ethiopia

The United States National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, has disclosed that Senator Christopher Coons will travel to qAddis Ababa, Ethiopia to represent president Joe Biden.

While disclosing this in a statement on Thursday March 18, 2021, Sen. Sullivan stated that the travel is aimed at meeting with Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed Ali, to discuss humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia.

He added that Coons will convey President Biden’s grave concerns about the humanitarian crisis and human rights abuses in the Tigray region and the risk of broader instability in the Horn of Africa.

“He will also consult with the African Union on how to advance the region’s shared interests in peace and prosperity,” Sullivan said.
