The New York election board has accepted discrepancy in the initial ranked choice voting results released on Wednesday June 30, 2021.

While reacting to the result in a statement, the board acknowledged that it was aware of the discrepancy.

“We are aware there is a discrepancy in the unofficial RCV round by round elimination report,” the statement reads.

“We are working with our RCV technical staff to identify where the discrepancy occurred. We ask the public, elected officials and candidates to have patience,” it adds.

The board noted that it conducted rigorous and mandatory pre-qualification testing for every election.

It, however, apologized for the error and had taken immediate measures to ensure the most accurate up to date results are reported.

Speaking about the result, the Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams, reacted, “We are waiting for an explanation and still confident in our lead. Keep the faith, Team Adams!”

“The vote total just released by the Board of Elections is 100,000-plus more than the total announced on election night, raising serious questions.

“We have asked the Board of Elections to explain such a massive increase and other irregularities before we comment on the Ranked Choice Voting projection.

“We remain confident that Eric Adams will be the next mayor of New York,” he said.

Adams added that he put together a historic five-borough working class coalition of New Yorkers to “make city a safer, fairer, more affordable place”.
