New York City Council Speaker, Adrienne Adams, has extended her best wishes to Muslims across New York City.

While sending her wishes in a video posted on her Facebook page on Saturday April 2, 2022, Adams noted that Ramadan is a blessed month of responsibility.

“Ramadan Mubarak to all our Muslim brothers and sisters observing the blessed month,” Speaker Adams said.

She added, “On behalf of the New York Council, I want to extend my best wishes for a month of fasting and and prayer across our beautiful city…to Muslim communities engaging in worship by fasting from sunrise to sunset.”

In her message, Adams implored the Muslims to remain responsible and protect the vulnerable.

“Ramadan reminds us about sharing responsibility to uplift and protect the most vulnerable among us.

“That’s the responsibility and commitment I take very seriously as your speaker,” she stated.

She stated further, “As you pray in your mosque and your community center and gather for iftar with your family and friends, know that your city council has your back.

“We are working hard to ensure your safety and your ability to worship without fear.”

“To one million strong Muslim community, may this month be filled with meeting and promise,” she concluded.
