The Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, has facilitated a solat space at City Hall for his Muslim employees.

One of the employees, Mohamed Bahi, disclosed this after the first Jummah service held on Friday December 16, 2022.

“Today, we performed and prayed the 1st Jummah service in City Hall,” he said.

Bahi added that the service will be a regular Jummah prayer in City Hall for Muslim staffers.

“This is something that Mayor Eric Adams himself has facilitated and made sure that his Muslim city employees have a prayer space to perform there religious obligations,” he confirmed.

“This is what happens when we unite as a community, as a team, and as a family.

“Being a proud Muslim and working in City government should NEVER effect your deen. Faith always comes first. Inshaallah more to come!” he added.

“Very proud to be working for such amazing and supportive people that NEVER say NO to you. Whether it’s the Mayor, the commissioner or even chief of staff….it has been nothing but pure support and blessings.

“Thank you to those who also helped, like Jabaran Akram for securing prayer mats,” he concluded.
