Nigeria: Former House of Representatives Member Honors Constituents with Empowerment Package

Ikirun, Osun State, Nigeria – In a show of gratitude to his constituents, Honorable Olalekan Rasheed Afolabi (FCA), former member of the House of Representatives for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin federal constituency, conducted an empowerment program at his residence in Ikirun on Saturday, July 8, 2023. The event saw the distribution of various empowerment packages, including over 40 motorcycles for youth and 30 freezers for women, about 100 bags of fertilizers for farmers and commercial grinding machines for young women.

Hon. Afolabi expressed his appreciation to the IBO constituents for their unwavering support throughout his tenure in the Green Chamber. The empowerment program aimed to acknowledge their exceptional qualities and dependability.

“This empowerment is just a fraction of what the remarkable people of this constituency deserve. I must admit that they are truly exceptional and trustworthy,” Hon. Afolabi remarked during the event.

The former lawmaker emphasized that the empowerment program was part of his pledge to the constituents, having previously undertaken similar initiatives in schools and conducted numerous empowerment programs to improve their quality of life. He assured the constituents that his commitment to empowerment was an ongoing endeavor, with plans to extend the benefits to other artisans as well.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and admiration for Hon. Afolabi, recognizing the importance of electing responsible representatives at both the state and federal levels. Nureni Abiodun, a beneficiary residing within the constituency, commended the former lawmaker for his initiative.

“I’ve learned from this empowerment program that it’s crucial to select responsible individuals to represent us, whether at the state or federal level,” Nureni Abiodun stated appreciatively.

Tijani Alirat, another beneficiary, received a grinding machine and praised Hon. Afolabi for his numerous empowerment programs initiated for the benefit of the IBO constituents.

“Hon. Afolabi has initiated lots of empowerment programs for the benefit of IBO constituents,” she expressed.

The remaining beneficiaries echoed the appreciation and admiration for Hon. Afolabi, expressing their hope that other politicians would follow his example and extend similar support to their communities.

The event also featured the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Hon. Afolabi by his staff, led by Comrade Wasiu Adebiyi, his Personal Assistant.
