Lawsuit alleges sexual assault involving James Dolan, Harvey Weinstein
A massage therapist formerly employed by the Eagles rock band, Kellye Croft, filed a lawsuit on Tuesday accusing media and sports executive James Dolan and disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault and trafficking.
The legal action, filed in a Los Angeles federal district court, details Croft’s allegations against Dolan, the billionaire behind Madison Square Garden, the Knicks, and the Rangers, asserting that he coerced her into an unwanted sexual relationship in 2013 and arranged an encounter with Weinstein.
The court documents reveal that a decade ago, Dolan had hired Croft as a masseuse for Glenn Frey, a founding member of the Eagles. The lawsuit describes her job as initially a dream gig that eventually led to painful consequences due to the actions of Dolan and Weinstein, both powerful figures in media and entertainment. According to Croft, Dolan’s assertiveness and manipulation escalated during a tour, pressuring her into unwanted sexual encounters.
In January 2014, during the Eagles’ residency in Los Angeles, the suit alleges that Dolan facilitated Croft’s transport across state lines for the purpose of sexual activities induced by force, fraud, or coercion. The lawsuit further claims that Dolan orchestrated an encounter between Croft and Weinstein, who subsequently sexually assaulted her. The suit includes details of a phone call where Weinstein allegedly threatened Croft, citing his friendship with Dolan.
Weinstein, currently serving a 23-year sentence for sex crimes in New York, and Dolan, both deny the accusations. Croft, now 38, issued a statement through her lawyer, accusing Dolan of manipulation and orchestrating her abuse.
Dolan’s lawyer dismissed the claims, stating there is no merit and suggesting the accusations against Weinstein appear plagiarized. The suit also references Dolan’s attempt to distance himself from Weinstein in 2018, citing lyrics from a song as a “blatant lie,” emphasizing that Dolan was aware of the situation despite his public stance.
