King Salman launches 4th national charity campaign on Friday
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has granted approval for the commencement of the 4th National Campaign for Charitable Work on Friday, March 15, via Ehsan, the National Platform for Charitable Work.
The initiative, aimed at strengthening charitable giving, especially during Ramadan, will extend throughout the holy month, ensuring continuous donations until its conclusion, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
This directive underscores King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s enduring dedication to supporting charitable endeavors, a fundamental tenet of Islamic Shariah. The campaign’s primary objective is to encourage widespread participation in charitable deeds and enhance community solidarity during Ramadan, a period when the rewards for such actions are magnified.
Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Ehsan Platform’s Supervisory Committee, expressed gratitude towards the King and the Crown Prince for their steadfast backing of the platform since its inception. Under a royal decree, the platform was established to empower and elevate the non-profit sector. He highlighted the success of previous campaigns, including the 2023 edition, which amassed donations exceeding SR760 million ($202,626,191.60) and benefited over 398,000 individuals through more than 10.4 million donation transactions. Notably, the campaign set a Guinness World Record for the largest single-day donation within 24 hours, demonstrating remarkable community solidarity on the 27th night of Ramadan last year.
Donors will have the opportunity to contribute digitally to various charitable and developmental causes throughout the campaign. Additionally, contributions can be made to the Ehsan Endowment Fund, ensuring secure transactions through the Ehsan app, Ehsan.sa website, or by calling the unified number: 8001247000.
Established by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the Ehsan platform operates under the oversight of a supervisory committee comprising 13 government agencies. This robust governance framework aligns with national endeavors to digitally empower the charity sector and reinforce the Kingdom’s status as a global leader in charitable giving. Since its inception, the platform has received over SR 5 billion ($1,338,287,450) in donations, benefiting more than 4.8 million individuals from various eligible groups.
