UAE welcomes permanent ceasefire agreement in Libya
The United Arab Emirates on Saturday welcomed the permanent ceasefire agreement between Libya’s warring factions, a Foreign Ministry statement said.
It added that a political solution under UN supervision was the only way to end the conflict in Libya.
Libya’s two warring factions signed the ceasefire agreement across the country on Friday following five days of talks at the United Nations in Geneva.
The accord, concluded after talks between military representatives of Fayez al-Sarraj’s Government of National Accord (GNA) and the Libyan National Army (LNA) of Khalifa Haftar, will be followed by political discussions in Tunisia next month.
